The Docent Guild at Emory’s Michael C. Carlos Museum is integral to its educational programs, guiding visitors through interactive tours of the museum’s galleries. Open to all, no prior art or history knowledge is necessary to join. Prospective docents undergo a nine-month training, from August to April, including university courses and mentorship. The guild encourages intellectual engagement and welcomes diverse backgrounds. Applications for the 2024 class are due by June 14, 2024. Benefits of being a docent include auditing relevant university courses, attending special events and lectures, and being part of a vibrant educational community. Informational Zoom sessions are available, and interested individuals can contact Kris Allen at kristopher.allen@emory.edu.
